When client involvement meets expectations and the chemistry with the architect is optimal, the result can only be a balanced and personality-filled design, where playful details, colors, and texture vibrations collaborate harmoniously and shape a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Opening up GaleriaApartamentul, initially a company headquarters, was developed extensively in depth, while the living room received very little light, filtered through an enclosed balcony. The first step was to demarcate the main daytime zones within the spacious main room – the entrance hall, the socializing and guest reception area, the bar/work table, and the dining area.
We removed the secondary balcony glazing and thus reintegrated it into the main space, bringing in light and creating a work area or bar/socializing zone. From the existing finishes, the parquet flooring and doors were kept and integrated into the new design, their dark tones being tempered by the use of lighter shades for the rest of the elements.
Furniture is used as the main element separating the zones, integrating accents such as the motorcycle helmet niche and carefully concealing the air conditioning system. The shelves near the entrance, which enclose the access area, include a box partially clad in sisal – the beginning of a play trail for Eri the cat, which continues further with interrupted ledges.
In the demolished balcony, after studying several options, we finished the floor with LVT tiles, glued directly over the existing ceramic tiles – thus reducing costs and avoiding demolition. The vibration of the pattern painted with a stencil complements the rhythm of the furniture's ribbing.
The turquoise in the dining area is further taken up in the pastel tone of the kitchen units. We developed these units along all the walls, obtaining an ample work and storage space and positioned the sink in the axis of the bright window. A particular and elegant detail is the raising of a low curb over the countertop, which then wraps around the window sill.
We were able to achieve this detail with optimized costs, using a standard heat-resistant PAL countertop, while the curb and sill are made of Dekton white.
In the child's room (currently used as an office), we exclusively used stratified wood as the base material for the furniture, playing with its pleasant texture and leaving the edges in layers to tell their story alongside the cheerful colors.
The main bathroom stands out through a series of architectural gestures, from the elegant countertop clad in natural veneer to the integral treatment of the bathtub area with long ceramic tiles and a coordinated shelf with terracotta-colored grout lines, as well as various storage spaces that mask the existing installation fittings.
Particular attention is paid to lighting, with a ceiling fixture providing general illumination, two pendant globes bringing light to the mirror area, and a fine LED strip embedded above the bathtub as an accent.
