Ideally, work would stay at the office and at home we would enjoy our families, cook, play with the little ones, and relax. However, the truth is that many of us have a workspace at home as well, so we need a desk in our apartment.
There are also freelancers who by definition work from home, but there are also mothers on maternity leave who can use their children's nap time to pursue something creative or a part-time job with low demands.
For those who don't have a large living space available, there is a problem of space. The living room is already crowded, the kitchen is not a good place for this, maybe in the bedroom there is still a possibility to set up a desk.
The alternative of working on a sofa or at the kitchen table or even in bed is not very appealing, especially since it is not recommended for your back and doesn't help much with concentration. Therefore, a small desk in the apartment is necessary. Moreover, over time it can be passed on to children when they have homework to do.
There are many ingenious solutions for setting up a desk. For example, incorporating it into a wardrobe is a very good idea because it can be easily closed when you have guests. You can store the essentials for your work on the remaining shelves and the computer or internet cables can be easily hidden as well.
If you have a house with an atypical shape, then try to transform a small entrance hall into a suitable place for placing a laptop stand or desktop system, complemented by two shelves. Or use an old wheeled wardrobe. Refurbish it and turn it into a desk so you have your own mobile workspace.
Furthermore, if the pantry is not very useful to you, give this room a second chance and set up a suitable space there. Make sure to light it properly.
