As we recently went through the arduous process of searching for a space, we noticed that many owners or real estate agents don't pay much attention to the images they upload on rental or sale listing websites.

This is quite a big mistake, especially since we all know that a picture is worth a thousand words, and the chances of a property being viewed by more clients increase exponentially if the listing also benefits from images.

But not just any kind of images. When you list a house or apartment for sale on a real estate listing website, try to maximize their sales potential by presenting them in images that put them in the best possible light and be careful about a few aspects.

First of all, clean up. A disorganized house with things lying around won't sell. Any extra detail in a frame with a living room, for example, will distract attention from the room and the potential buyer will consider you a careless owner.

Don't take pictures with people in them. If someone walked through the frame while you were photographing the space, then retake the image. Moreover, don't take pictures in front of mirrors so that you don't accidentally appear in the frame, but also because the mirror reflects light and you risk your images coming out dark.

Even if you cherish many objects in your house, memories, decorative objects that don't quite fit in the décor but have sentimental value, it's best to remove them from the frame, at least temporarily, because you will most likely take them with you if the new owner or tenant doesn't want them in the house.

In the case of outdoor photos, the above rules still apply. No one wants to buy an unkempt garden or full of useless objects. You don't want to give anyone the impression that they will have to invest a lot more time after buying the property from you.

If you are not talented at using editing software such as Photoshop, then it may be better to call on a specialist to correct your images a little, or not alter them at all because you risk the result being hilarious.
