We have a space. Good, and now? Now we are thinking about how to design it in such a way that it satisfies all our needs for living, relaxing, storing and helps us be happy. Generally, in old-type apartments, the spaces allocated to rooms are standardized and, unfortunately, rather small.
Fortunately, new blocks of flats and villas have begun to develop an appetite for open spaces, loft-type spaces and as open and spacious rooms as possible. However, an open space is not always what we need.
For example, if we are talking about a studio apartment with a fairly large area, exceeding 35 square meters, we can already play around with some partitioning solutions during the design to ensure the privacy of the sleeping area, to somehow separate the dining area from the rest of the house, or the kitchen from the living room, etc.
This is also valid in the case of houses with an open space living room, which often incorporates the dining room and kitchen. We may need a home office, a workspace, and it would be best if it did not communicate completely with the rest of the house so as not to be easily distracted from work, etc. Regardless of the reason, partitioning does not necessarily involve a team of builders.
You can use some simple solutions, and you can even implement some of them yourself.
Use a narrow bookshelf with an opening on both sides and separate two areas using books or decorative objects. This way, you separate the room and gain storage space.
Use wooden pallets to create a partition wall in a rustic or traditional decor. If you have a house decorated in a retro or vintage style, attach several rods or strings to the ceiling on which you can mount all sorts of signage objects, advertisements, etc.
If you have a minimalist or contemporary house, create a wall that rises two-thirds of the way up from the floor using a support into which you have inserted several wooden planks at different heights or tree branches.
You can also separate the space with a panel mounted on two metal legs in the floor, and paint it with chalkboard paint or paint it in cheerful colors to match your decor.
Solutions exist. We have inspiration. All that remains is to get started. Good luck!
