With a little imagination, creative spirit and efficient tricks you can arrange a functional bathroom even when its dimensions are not exactly generous. Here are some useful ideas and models to inspire you.
Opt for a sliding door instead of the classic, hinged one. This way, you will be able to use the bathroom space more efficiently, especially in the case of the service bathroom.
Custom-made furniture can be very helpful, especially in small spaces like bathrooms. The space under the sink can be transformed into an excellent place for various storage, from cosmetics to detergents or towels.
If you want more floor space, replace the cabinet under the sink with a suspended one where you can also integrate the mirror. You will thus have a multifunctional space and a more spacious bathroom. If this cabinet is not enough, you can add a suspended unit with drawers or doors right below the sink.
Use the walls for storage as well by integrating some shelves or ledges.
You will also gain storage space above the bathtub by building a large gypsum-board niche, whose base serves as a support for cosmetic products.
A similar shelf can be made above the sink, which, when completed with the mirror, constitutes a particularly practical arrangement in a narrow bathroom where any type of furniture would limit movement options. A similar niche can be built above the toilet bowl, in the space above the built-in tank.
Every centimeter counts in a small bathroom. Solutions can be found even where you don't expect them: what do you think about storage spaces right under the bathtub? (see image in photo gallery)
Another creative solution can be developed at the door level. Mount a towel rack here or pockets to store cosmetic items.
Pay due attention to lighting! You can opt for some spotlights in the ceiling to provide general lighting and then strong lighting near the mirror for better visibility. If your bathroom has a window, then allow natural light to penetrate the room. Don't block it with a shower curtain, but choose a transparent glass partition instead.
