This 56 sqm apartment in Moscow, designed by designer Katerina Bachurina in a classic modern style, surprises with its elegance and naturalness.
Initially, it was planned to have accent walls clad with red brick, but the designer's trip to Paris just before the wall finishes changed the final look of the project.
Inspired by Parisian architecture, the designer opted for a complete revision of the finishes. Thus, warm and noble shades of gray, stucco, and decorative profiles inspired by classicism appeared in the design, along with dusty pink tones and cobalt blue accents at the furniture and decoration level.
There were also changes at the layout level. The living room was moved to make room for a baby's room. Clients had requested from the beginning of their collaboration with the designer that every square centimeter be well analyzed and used, so the result is a comfortable and functional space for the whole family, with a boy and a dog.
The use of a limited number of decor items and furniture was also considered in the design to facilitate cleaning with the help of a robot.
Instead of the initially planned kitchen-living space, a child's room and a dressing room appeared; the dining area was moved into the loggia space. There were several layout options, but the decisive role in the final solution was played by the arrival of the baby in the family.
For the master bedroom, the clients wanted a separate work area and storage space, which was implemented towards the window area. The existing sill was enlarged, becoming a desk, all the books were neatly arranged in niches. They decided together not to close the dressing room in the bedroom but to create a glass partition.
Thus, the room seems airier and larger.
The entire interior of the apartment leaves the impression of natural symmetry, respecting harmonious proportions. Classic decor elements were carefully inserted into the design, but the lighting and zoning of the apartment were adapted to the needs and requirements of the modern man. The selection of materials and furniture pieces proposed by the designer successfully meets these requirements.
