In any small space we can find optimal solutions for a suitable arrangement to meet everyone's needs. Let's take, for example, this 33 square meter apartment. Small, but sufficient for the young woman who wanted a simple, yet functional home. She had a limited budget so she opted for a minimalist design.
She waited for sale periods and then purchased furniture and appliances, while accessories and decorations came gradually. Regarding finishes, she chose white as the base, with two walls covered in exposed brick to add texture to the space.
She chose a comfortable and extendable sofa that could be used as a bed for sleeping. In the existing niche in the apartment, she created a spacious dressing room for clothes and other bulky items. Although she initially considered a regular hinged door to close this small room, she found the idea of an old barn door, refurbished and placed on rails, in a magazine.
With the help of a carpenter friend, she managed to bring it to its current form and install it. The texture of the raw wood of the door adds a touch of style to the decor. The dresser and television are the pieces that complete the living space; the rug and decorative pillows in shades of gray and yellow brighten up the arrangement.
For the open-space kitchen, she chose furniture in darker tones, arranged linearly and compactly. Appliances are built-in except for the refrigerator. As a dining area, she envisioned a bar zone. This was also created with a metal base and a raw top in the spirit of the dressing room door. The three suspended light fixtures provide direct lighting above the dining area.
In the bathroom, she opted for a more colorful approach, with blue accents and decorative tiles on the floor. The bathroom door was painted blue, as were the hatch-type doors under the sink. A washing machine was also incorporated here; the oversized mirror creates the illusion of a larger space, an excellent idea to amplify the sense of spaciousness in a small bathroom.
