How to optimize small spaces is a question designers hear very often. The answers vary because no space is alike, especially when considering the people who live in them. Our needs are different, so the proposed solutions will adapt to what we need.
Some spaces are designed to be rented, others are inhabited by only one person, some desire an additional room, while others want as much open space as possible, without partitions.
Open the GaleriaExemplul The example we selected today represents a 43 square meter apartment, which we could call a studio or a one-room apartment. For some people, sleeping on the sofa can be a real chore, so they absolutely want a sleeping area, no matter how small, just to exist. This was also the case with this couple.
In an apartment of this size, creating a bedroom means further fragmentation which increases the feeling of limited space. However, the solution proposed by the designer manages to balance the functions and, above all, not suffocate the arrangement.
The winning solution was the creation of a glass partition (similar to a glaswand). With its help, the newly created space can receive natural light while maintaining the effect of spaciousness.
Since such a modification can be quite expensive, the parties involved agreed to reduce the budget wherever possible. Therefore, many of the furniture pieces were purchased from IKEA, with the exception of the wardrobes in the hallway area which were custom-made.
Chromatically, a background with plenty of white predominates, even for the flooring, and green areas have been added as accents to brighten the space and give it an extra dose of dynamism; we can see this illustrated very well in the perimeter of the bedroom.
The living area has been reduced, but even so, it is not missing. The kitchen is open and maintains the Scandinavian design note. The cooking area is airy, with tall cabinets and a two-sided layout. Everything is equipped with the essentials, including basic appliances: stove, oven, and refrigerator.
The transition to the living room is made with a bar-type area, which is especially useful when cooking, providing additional counter space.
The simplicity typical of Nordic interiors best describes this 43 square meter space. You will surely find useful ideas in this arrangement. We hope it's helpful!
