As I browse the stores, I get the impression that all the decorations look alike. Therefore, this year I decided that all the ornaments I will have on my Christmas tree and around the house will be handmade. Here are five I'm thinking of trying:
Handmade floral decorations – draw a petal pattern on cardboard, as many as you like, then cut them out and overlap them as in the image. You can make the center of the flower from cotton, fabric, or polystyrene. Glue a round piece of cardboard to the back to fix the flower and attach a red string so you can hang it on the tree.
Newspaper bird – draw a bird template on cardboard, separate the body and wings, cut them out and then glue newspaper or book paper onto them. Then, cut out a square from the same newspaper, fold it like a fan, and glue it to make a tail, as in the image.
Collage ornaments – If you don't want to decorate your tree only with red baubles, there's no need to invest. You need a few letters cut out from newspapers and good glue. Write cute messages on the baubles using them.
Handmade star-shaped ornament – you need two rectangular cardboard boxes of different sizes from which to cut sections of equal width. Glue the large sections together to form a star [each section is a ray] and glue the small sections inside the large sections as shown in the image.
Cardboard flowers with messages – for this ornament, you need a piece of cardboard from which to cut strips of equal width and length. Fold the strips at the ends to form a petal. After folding all the strips, glue them circularly onto a piece of cardboard. Finally, write a nice message for your loved ones and hang the ornament on the Christmas tree.
