Last year brought us a wide variety of ideas and trends for interior design. Today we are talking about kitchen designs and the trends homeowners opted for when decorating these rooms in their homes.

Experts have varying opinions on this subject, but they all agree on one thing: functionality comes first, and aesthetics complement it. The result is kitchens that are attractive enough for owners to be proud of in front of guests, but remain functional for everyday use. Here are some of the most common trends.

Black and white furniture. We have increasingly encountered kitchens that have adopted a black and white approach. The main cabinets go for shades of black, dark blue tones or grays. For the upper part, i.e., hanging cabinets, white, cream or light beige are preferred.

Combining these shades helps break up monotony and create a focal point in the kitchen decor. Kitchens are no longer seen just as places to cook, but as rooms where you can even entertain guests.

Built-in appliances. Customers want their kitchens to be practical and functional spaces with everything they need included in the space of this room, without having to go down the hall to open the refrigerator or onto the balcony to use the stove or hob.

Therefore, we have encountered layouts with compact kitchens where appliances have been incorporated into the furniture, thus enhancing the aesthetic effect. The refrigerator is no longer a separate part of the work areas but integrated into the furniture, and ovens or dishwashers are incorporated so that they can be easily accessed but look good in the overall decor created.

Mixed finishes. Although stainless steel remains the most used material for kitchen finishes, designers have experimented with various materials to create an eclectic space. For example, bronze, gold tones or a mix of all these can create impressive effects.

Faucets, handles, hoods or light fixtures are just some of the elements that can transform the look of a kitchen.

Tall furniture. Many of our kitchens have limited surface areas, which implies an adaptation of the layout. Thus, this year we have seen more and more kitchens with tall cabinets reaching up to the ceiling, thus creating more storage space.
