Painting a piece of furniture at home is not a difficult task. However, there are mistakes you can make without knowing. To ensure your project turns out well, keep the following tips in mind:

Sand the surface of the object with sandpaper. This step is important because it allows the paint to adhere better to the work surface. If it is made of wood, use 150-grit sandpaper for wood. If there is old varnish or paint, it is best to remove it completely before applying a new coat of paint.

Always clean up any debris with a dry cloth. Always wipe away any traces of sawdust or dust from the surface of the furniture piece.

Before painting, apply a layer of primer to the sanded and cleaned surface. Let it dry completely, then sand the surface again if there are any small unevenness left from the dried primer drops.
