The gardens have begun to bloom and delight our eyes day by day. Soon, summer will bring us warmth and an explosion of colors and aromas of all kinds. And so that summer evenings are special, here is a selection of fragrant plants that bloom in the evening.
Brugmansia is a special plant. It blooms for a week during the full moon period, from spring to autumn. Popularly known also as Angel's Trumpet due to the shape of its flowers. Delicate and subtly scented, it has rapid growth and is recommended for gardens thanks to its decorative appearance.
Tuberoses are strongly fragrant flowers, pinkish-white in color. They are also known as Cypress Flowers and bloom in August. They can be grown in the garden or in pots. Being plants that love heat and plenty of light, it is good to provide them with optimal conditions for development, including rich soil and plenty of water.
Zaluzianskya capensis or night phlox are plants that open at dusk, emitting a honey-like scent, slightly vanilla-flavored.
Nicotiana or Queen of the Night offers us, as its name suggests, a royal feast of inviting fragrance that sweetens the air of summer evenings. Interestingly, in many parts of the world, it is cultivated for tobacco production.
The name Nicotiana was given in honor of Jean Nicot, the French ambassador to Portugal, who in 1559 sent some plants of this species to the royal court of Catherine de Medici for medicinal purposes. Queen's flowers can vary in color, from white, red, pink to purple or even yellow.
Cestrum nocturnum or Night Jasmine is an evergreen shrub with small, white inflorescences but which intensely perfumes any garden with the appearance of the moon. You can enjoy it from spring to autumn.
Ipomoea Alba is a plant that delights our senses from June to September. Being a climbing variety, it suits well on trellises, fences, pergolas or even on the balcony if you mount supports for climbing. Being a robust plant, it grows quickly and blooms easily.
