Culture constantly influences interior design, the way people choose to express their preferences through decorating their own homes. It is interesting how European houses are influenced by Arab cultures. Even if geographically the dwelling is not located in America or Asia, the decor can bring a part of their culture much closer.
The living room is the place where the family spends most of its time. Decorating it involves incorporating the culture and personality of the family.
If the central theme for the living room is the sea, the colors used are white and blue. Such a decor is influenced by the colors of Greece. For decorations, many shells, anchors, and starfish are used. Picture frames similar to those for photographs can be filled with shells and snails to create a beach and sea effect.
The wall can be decorated with shells and starfish arranged on strings. In this decor, the furniture is simple, its shape is regular and not sophisticated at all. Light-colored wood is used for the bookcase bodies and the coffee table. Such a living room emphasizes a return to origins, it is not expensive and creates a bright and homogeneous image.
For a decor that highlights British culture, two options can be used. One option uses the colors of the Union Jack – white, red, and blue. The room is preferably painted white, with all furniture items also being white. The pop of color comes from pillows and small paintings with the flag of England.
To accentuate this, a large chest can be brought into the room, colored in the colors of the Union Jack. Another way to bring the English spirit into the living room is to create the image of a tea party in the parlor. Thus, the sofa should have a floral upholstery, the coffee table should not be missing, and the whole room should be full of flower vases.
As decorative elements, jars with flowers, vintage clocks, tin buckets for roses, white baskets with flowers, and a porcelain tea set can be used.
For Americans, everything is superlative. To have a typical decor, you need a large sofa and a fairly large television. The furniture must be majestic and imposing. The colors used can be those from the American flag: white, blue, and red. The emphasis is on decorative elements: paintings with the American flag, stars specific to the American flag.
For the wall, a painting can be made from white and red drum sticks, on which a blue background is painted in one corner for the white stars.
Specific to Russian design are divans, comfortable and large sofas. Russian furniture is generally made of solid wood and imposing. The colors are bright but in a pleasant combination, easily blending red with green and yellow. As decorative elements specific to Russian culture, the well-known Matryoshka dolls can be used.
They can be painted on the wall or displayed from small to large above a fireplace or in a bookcase. The Russian atmosphere can be brought into the room using a special table for the samovar. And colorful pillows in strong colors: blue and red, green and yellow subtly underline Russian culture. Walls can be decorated with paintings specific to Russia that impress with large flowers and birds.
