Living in small spaces comes with a series of challenges, the most pressing being storage. We never seem to find enough room for all our belongings, which leads to discomfort and dissatisfaction. The secret lies in being creative and exploring nooks and crannies within our homes. Here are 7 solutions worth considering.
If you're about to renovate, consider integrating niches into the walls to take advantage of some storage space. They are an excellent idea for the bathroom. They work just as well with built-in furniture for the living room or bedroom.
For the kitchen, it's essential that the furniture be as functional as possible. Before buying, check if the storage space inside the furniture is what you need, if there are enough compartments for dishes, cutlery, pans and ingredients (see the idea in the gallery).
Custom-made furniture is the right solution because this way you will have pieces perfectly adapted to the space where you will live and to your needs. Start right in the living room: build a system of modular shelves or hanging shelves around the television to take over books, document boxes, decorations and CDs.
Choose a medium height so that you could display some paintings on the space above (see the image in the gallery). If you want to visually separate two functions, use furniture pieces, such as open shelves or medium-height dressers inside which you can store some of your belongings, and above them display a few decorative items for a pleasant aesthetic.
The struggle with storage continues in the bedroom. Transform the headboard into a storage space: either a chest with room for duvets and pillows, or a type of dresser with drawers for linens. It all depends on the configuration of the room and how you want the finished product to look. Again, custom execution will help you achieve furniture according to your requirements.
And of course, we can't exclude the classic drawers on the side of the bed or even the entire space under the bed.
Multifunctionality is the key to solving the storage problem. Consider any coffee table with storage inside or even sofas with integrated storage spaces in the arms. You can do the same in the hallway, a bench with integrated shelves (for shoes, gloves, keys and other objects that usually find their place in this space).
