From a young age, we are taught to dream about our wonderful home that we will have when we grow up. Desires are welcome, but the reality is that until then, we will change several apartments or small houses with reduced areas and, to the dismay of cooking enthusiasts, with small kitchens.
Specialty websites offer us storage solutions for small kitchens, but it's good to know how we can create the illusion that our kitchens are larger and airier. Here are a few ideas you should consider for your next renovation:
1. Use vertical space. We know it's not ideal for short people, but there are special ladders just for this. The more you extend storage areas upwards, the more you can cut into their depth and gain movement space. Also, opt for glass doors for kitchen cabinets.
2. Add color and surfaces made of light-reflecting materials. Don't be afraid of bold and daring shades.
3. Ditch the curtains. Choose window protection film, which will allow you to see outside, let the light through, and won't affect your need for privacy. Windows without curtains help a lot in creating the impression of a much more open space.
4. You don't need cabinets for everything. Save space occupied by another drawer or cabinet with wall-mounted systems where you can hang all sorts of kitchen utensils.
5. Don't always stick to the walls. Use the center of the kitchen as much as possible. Place an island that can incorporate both an oven or stove and workspace and storage.
6. Light. As much light as possible if you are dealing with small kitchens. If you have hanging cabinets, place spotlights immediately below them.
7. Open shelves or shelving is an efficient solution that takes up less space and offers the same storage capacity.

Use vertical space. The more you extend storage areas upwards, the more you can cut into their depth and gain movement space.
