Today's design recipe involves taking an old building's bridge, reconditioning it, and then transforming it into a functional yet charming living space. We're talking about a small studio in Paris that exudes a truly French, bohemian, romantic atmosphere.
The design was conceived for a young, active person who loves adventure, reading, and new challenges. This studio is their nest for relaxation and escape from daily life, a place to recharge, dream, and look out over the buildings of the city neighborhoods.
The space leads us to a rustic-inspired theme through several highlighted elements in the design: the rug, the fireplace, or the staircase used to reach the sleeping area. The exposed wooden beams give the space a special aura, themselves being decorative pieces that stand out due to their unfinished, aged appearance.
Most storage spaces are hidden; niches discreetly inserted in various locations are illuminated and allow for creative, yet discreet storage. White predominates to amplify the spaces, while grey accents add depth to the design. The cheerful colors of the rug evoke a sense of comfort, visually uniting the socializing area.
Within this landscape, the fireplace stands out as the focal point, around which the remaining elements are arranged.
From the living space, there is a transition to the kitchen and dining area. Part of the beams discreetly separate these functions. Minimally approached, this studio zone offers the essentials for cooking and dining. The idea of hanging cabinets was abandoned in favor of only the main ones, which also incorporate appliances.
The stairs next to the windows provide access to the outside, leading to a small balcony.
Accent lighting contributes to creating a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere while illuminating the dark corners of the home. The overall effect is successful and necessary.
The sleeping area was designed directly above the entrance door, with access via a wooden staircase; an idea in line with the chosen theme and practical considering the ceiling height which allowed for this solution to be created.
The bathroom renovation proved to be a true challenge considering its size and especially the sloping ceiling. The space was successfully optimized and all necessary items were incorporated: bathtub, sink, toilet, radiator, and storage space.
