Searching for a layout model for a small apartment, I found this example that wonderfully illustrates the concept that you can build a stylish decor even in a reduced living space. How did the designer achieve this? By starting from a few simple and functional principles.
Opening GalleryOne of these is the principle of brightness. Taking advantage of the opening to the terrace which ensures a generous amount of natural light, the interior design of the living room was outlined. Here, the living area forms a single unit with the kitchen space, the dining area being the link between the two.
Further on, the living room seems to be divided into a conversation or media area and a sector that could be used as a reading spot. Even the terrace has been designed as an extension of the living room, being a wonderful place to spend time in warm days or evenings.
The color scheme is predominantly neutral, with cream and beige tones, with black accents intended to offer discreet elegance to the decor. The decorations, excellently chosen, personalize the space in a very pleasant way.
Another trick used is that of mirrors. As you will see in the photos, one wall (the one next to the dining area) is covered with a mirror, creating the impression of depth and widening the space. We also find them in the kitchen area, more precisely in the upper part of the furniture units, mirrors that manage to reflect some of the natural light.
The cooking space is limited, probably also due to the opening towards the living room. In fact, the kitchen is partially separated from the rest of the room by a bar-type unit. The furniture is compact, and the work areas are arranged linearly.
We like the essence of wood used for the furniture pieces; it doesn't overwhelm the space and gives a warm and welcoming atmosphere alongside the beiges around them. The rug, sofas, curtains, or decorative pillows manage to enhance the neutral decor through the varied textures that inspire comfort and relaxation.
Our favorite pieces are the blue chairs and the 2 overlapping coffee tables.
Moving towards the night area, we reach the matrimonial bedroom. Here too, we find the motif of mirrors. Minimalist in approach, the mirror wall behind the bed has the same effect of deepening the space; add a long wooden shelf and 2 bedside tables and you have the perfect decor for a small but functional bedroom.
