Each kitchen has its own unique charm. Often, renovation is necessary to enhance its appearance and optimize the cooking space. What we chose to present today was a challenge for this couple as the entire refurbishment was envisioned by them, and the result was worth every effort: a small kitchen renovated in a modern-vintage style.
The principle they relied on when starting the redecoration process was functionality. Before the makeover, the space lacked cohesion and the dark colors were overwhelming. Having a structure both long and wide, it needed a color to refresh the face of the kitchen.
So, the owners chose to paint the walls white, the cabinets and tiles are also white. The surprise element is the introduction of black in some decorative details. The countertop is black, as are the cabinet handles, the faucet, and even the wall next to the window. The contrast is amazing, and the effect of white is impressive.
It offers maximum brightness to the kitchen, creating a pleasant space for cooking.
A few other elements break up the predominantly white decor: the light fixtures, rugs, the radiator painted black, and even the legs of the chairs. Attention to detail prevails in every corner of the kitchen. To break the black-and-white monotony, a portion of the wall was designed as brickwork alongside wooden shelves in the dining area.
A few blue-turquoise decorations complete the color scheme harmoniously.
The furniture was kept, only reconditioned in places and repainted white. The countertop was replaced and open shelves were created in the dining area. The light fixtures were changed to modern ones, perfectly adaptable to the new kitchen, creating a slightly industrial look.
However, the vintage style blends perfectly with the modern one, and the result of the renovation is exceptional; the new kitchen has an added touch of lightness, freshness, and most importantly – the functionality of every square meter.
