Make the most of what you have, as the saying goes. This is exactly what this architect from Madrid thought when she started decorating her 45 square meter apartment.

Maite immediately felt the potential of this space: with plenty of natural light pouring in, she could play around and create a pleasant and comfortable space despite its small size and, above all, its long and narrow configuration.

To put her plan into practice, she needed to repartition the space, thus obtaining a functional distribution of the areas. The kitchen, initially very small, was enlarged, the bedroom was redesigned for more privacy, and the living room received a dining area and a minimalist fireplace.

These transformed functions gave the apartment more fluidity and spaciousness.

Living in such a space is a challenge. For Maite, it meant a compromise she was willing to make. She thought of everything according to her taste and tried to shape a home with few but valuable stylistic pieces. This is how the fireplace placed between the two exits to the balcony appeared, or the classic-style table completed by Eames-type chairs.

To achieve a pleasant ambiance, she surrounded herself with simple but effective accessories and decorations.

Overall, the design inspires harmony and tranquility. The spaces are not overloaded with furniture, the architect opting only for the strictly necessary pieces and useful items in a household. For example, in the small kitchen, there is a compact area that incorporates the worktop, a few cabinets for storage and built-in appliances, except for the refrigerator.

The bar-type countertop serves as a space for a quick meal but also as a visual delimiter from the rest of the house.

She thought about the bedroom design in the same way, with the bed, bedside tables, and a wardrobe being the only pieces in the room. However, everything is compensated by those small details, such as a lighting fixture, decorative pillows, paintings, or small plants that transform a house into a home.
