Designer Mike Mak from Hong Kong has created a piece of furniture that unfolds from a book. Yes, you read that right, Bookniture is truly a unique piece.

How does it work? At first glance, Bookniture looks like a thick volume, like an encyclopedia that unfolds like a fan. Its structure includes rigid cardboard pieces that can support a weight of up to 170 kilograms.

Thus, from a book volume in your library, you get either a chair, a coffee table, or a nightstand.

Such an object is ideal because it takes up very little space, and several such pieces can be stored in the bookcase or behind the sofa. It's an ideal solution for small apartments when you have guests but not enough chairs.

Since it has the shape of a book, it can be transported anywhere it's needed: to a picnic, on excursions, or even on a visit to a friend who lives in a rental.

Visually, the product looks very appealing, with an elegant design, like a journal, and a brown or black leather cover.

Bookniture is available on Kickstarter starting at $63, with pre-orders currently being accepted and deliveries beginning in May.
