The design brief for this four-bedroom apartment in Bucharest was to furnish an 85 square meter space with a budget of €13,000 plus VAT. Located near a park, the apartment needed to be designed while incorporating nature as a recurring theme.
Designers Mihnea Ghildus and Marilena Popa had to conceive a space for a young family passionate about movement, allowing them to enjoy décor in harmony with the nearby park.
Among the requirements was also that of working with as many objects made by Romanian designers as possible. It wasn't difficult at all because Mihnea is the founder and manager of the magazine.Designer featuring the sale of decorative objects produced by local artists.
The space was divided into four zones: the vestibule, dining area, kitchen, and living room; these zones being delimited by a metallic structure which can also be used for storing various household objects. In this case, the bicycle found its place on this wall without cluttering the space, either visually or physically.
The remaining rooms were allocated as follows: a child's room, a teenager's room, and the parents' bedroom; each room featuring a different theme while maintaining the concept of bringing elements from the outdoors inside.
Approximately 100 objects produced by 40 Romanian designers were used for this apartment.
