Vincent Kartheiser Pete Campbell from the popular series Mad Men seems to follow the adage "good things come in small packages," as he owns a small and extremely charming 54-square-meter residence in Hollywood. This is somewhat atypical for American celebrities, who we usually hear purchasing opulent homes dominated by luxury.

Designer and architect Funn Roberts was responsible for this layout, successfully transforming the small space into a variety of rooms while also establishing the unconventional tone of the style, which Kartheiser refers to as Japanese industrial.

The first requirement was the reconfiguration attic To achieve this, dividing walls were removed to significantly open up the space. The shower, partially clad in black marble and wood, is separated from the bedroom by a sliding wall made of fiberglass.

Certainly, the unique element of the design is the bed that hangs from the ceiling. It can be easily raised and lowered using pulleys attached to strong cables which are in turn connected to weights. This ingenious system significantly contributes to saving living space.

For added privacy, a thick curtain was also installed to clearly delineate the space.

Another unique bedroom accessory is the wooden headboard of the bed. When the bed is raised, the headboard, which has been fitted with a hinge, can be folded down and transformed into a highly functional desk.

The lighting system consists of white boxes adhered along the walls which disperse light in a very pleasant way. The rest of the house features other accessories, mostly chosen by the designer but with input from his fiancée, actress Alexis Bledel.
