The 70 square meter apartment designed by Alexandra Chis features a relatively common layout: an open-space kitchen with living room, two bedrooms, one bathroom and a storage area. It surprises, however, through the chosen style, a classic with modern influences, extremely elegant and comfortable. The visual impression is balanced and consistent down to the smallest details of the design.

“We took care of everything with love and enthusiasm, from the design concept to closely monitoring the construction site, placing orders, organizing deliveries and, last but not least, decorating the home so that they could enjoy the final result.

They gave free rein to our imagination and implementation. They were present at the construction site at the beginning, when we handed them the keys, twice during the works and finally when we presented the final result. Throughout the collaboration, they didn't make any comments," the project author tells us.

To achieve the final image of the interior design, the project started with important renovation works, as the apartment is located in an older building and had not been renovated for a long time.

Thus, the rather old ceramic tiles in the bathroom were replaced, the laminate flooring was changed to a Woodcore stratified parquet. The walls were stripped, leveled and finished with a highly resistant latex-based paint from Benjamin Moore.

The main request of the clients was to create a classic, warm and elegant interior, while at the same time having a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. In the end, when they saw the result at the handover meeting, they were extremely happy and satisfied.

The chosen style relies on a mix of glam elements (using fretted mirror pieces, velvet, crystals) with classic elements (baseboards, decorative moldings, cornice, furniture body carvings, color palette).

Chromatically, the clients wanted the subtlety characteristic of the classic style, using light, pastel shades which also have the advantage of deceiving the eye and visually enlarging the space.

Lighting is a very important part of the project and has been carefully studied, both in terms of routes and positioning of lighting fixtures and as a stylistic expression in itself. The architect proposed classic ceiling lights with crystals and oversized chandeliers, intended to accentuate a certain area.
