Small apartments are a true challenge for designers. Often, the solutions they come up with amaze us with their creativity and prove that when you turn to professionals, any small space can receive its suitable design.
Open the GaleriaSpatiul about which we're talking today was designed by the architecture and design office Kodo from Poland. The apartment has an area of 43 square meters, with a living room, bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom.
The designers aimed to approach the space in a current, minimalist style, with lots of glass and mirrors – glossy surfaces, through which to amplify the space and make it appear brighter. They used a lot of white, which they balanced with oak wood essences, from the flooring to wall cladding.
This resulted in a contemporary design and an elegant decor through the preciousness of materials and finishes.
For the living area, being a long and narrow space, the furniture arrangement focused on the walls without visually overwhelming the room. Choosing suspended pieces, placed in the lower part of the room but along almost the entire length of the wall, optimized storage spaces.
Then, a corner sofa with gray upholstery and two overlapping glass tables complete the arrangement in a balanced way. The play of mirrors and glazed surfaces is part of the tricks used by designers to visually enlarge the space. Thus, between the living room and the bedroom, a window was installed and immediately next to it a mirror.
The effect is surprising and through the installation of two suspended light fixtures in front of this window.
The transition to the kitchen is discreetly made by arranging a small dining space. The wall cladding next to the table makes the area stand out.
The kitchen is not visible from the living room, but it communicates with it as there is no delimitation between the functions. The cooking surface is small, the kitchen having approximately 5 square meters. To optimize the surface, a parallel arrangement was chosen with cabinets on both sides. Everything is incorporated and unit-thought.
