The apartment is located in an 18th-century building, situated in the pedestrian zone of Cluj Napoca city center and occupies almost the entire street side of the 1st floor, historically also known as piano nobile.
The owners desired a complete renovation of the apartment with a reorganization of spaces and a contemporary reinterpretation of them, a complete change in the way the wall art collection is presented, all these modifications being made according to the current needs of the family and their lifestyle.
Special requirements and adequate solutions concerned the bathroom spaces, the kitchen as well as storage needs.

The project was carried out by Attila KIM Architects led by arch.
Attila KIM, and received the special award of the "Interior Architecture" section (ex aequo) at the 2023 National Architecture Biennial. The architects proposed a minimalist style and implemented original solutions, including very low furniture, an island kitchen in an open space, a historic ceiling uncovered in the bedroom and bathroom spaces, a dressing room inserted into the space, a storage cube inserted into the entrance hall, etc.

The renovation of this generous apartment has as its focal point an impressive collection of contemporary art, which determined the stylistic language and the way the spatial recompartmentalization and functional reorganization were carried out.

The starting point of the project, and also the most important requirement, is the free, dynamic and varied display of the art collection, by creating a framework similar to a museum white cube, which can allow the reorganization of all spaces at any time, without affecting everyday living.
