Decorating windows can be made easier, provided you know the advantages and disadvantages of each option; therefore, information is the best solution.
Classic, meaning curtains with drapes
Well-known since childhood, when the space behind the curtain was irreplaceable when playing hide-and-seek, the most traditional option is the curtain with or without drapes.
Curtains are just as widely used today in many homes due to their decorative nature – being available in a multitude of fabrics, patterns, textures and an unlimited range of accessories and fixing elements (from rods to rings, clips or tie cords). And that's not all, because each of them offers multiple arrangement possibilities.
Another advantage is the ease of maintenance of the elements and cleaning, usually your own washing machine being sufficient.
Moreover, modern drapes have many uses due to advanced technological solutions. On the market are available fabrics with special properties: blackout, sound insulation or fire-retardant. But even standard, thick materials constitute a thermal barrier between the outside and the room, limiting the penetration of heat in summer and cold in winter.
For large, bulky and heavy curtains and drapes, there are electric rails that will help you with the laborious movement. And finally, a decisive argument in favor of curtains: this is the only option available for curved walls or arched windows.
As disadvantages, it should be noted first of all the tendency to retain dust. Therefore, curtains with drapes are not a recommended solution for people suffering from allergies. Similarly, in bathrooms, where they will obviously absorb moisture, they are not recommended.
However, they will find their place in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, but the transparent fabrics of the curtains will be accompanied by opaque drapes, especially in apartments located on the ground floor or in homes located in the immediate vicinity of other buildings or roads.
