The project we propose today is for a small 37 square meter apartment inhabited by a young bachelor. The designer's role was to achieve a modern, functional layout with spaces for entertaining friends as well as a work area.
The reduced dimensions of the dwelling represented the challenge of this project. No modifications or reconfigurations of the space were made, the main room remaining self-contained, as did the kitchen.
Small spaces often raise the issue of storage. Therefore, specialists' interventions can help us outline the space more efficiently. In our case, a comfortable extendable sofa was chosen.
Then, next to the entrance door into the room, along the entire wall, a generous storage space was created with a small library included and two sliding door wardrobes. Interesting is also the body used as a partition between the conversation area and the work area which contains the desk. Another storage area was integrated into the hallway space.
The layout follows a minimalist line, focused on ensuring the desired comfort of the beneficiary. To break away from an easily banal or monotonous zone, the designer proposed a bold approach at the chromatic level through accents of yellow and blue. Thus, the yellow sofa stands out against the blue background of the wall behind it.
The rest of the space is balanced by white and neutral shades of cream and beige.
A few yellow accents are also found in the kitchen, where the colors are more subdued. The arrangement of the tiles reminds us of Tetris and follows the same discreet geometric line reflected throughout the entire layout. Therefore, upper cabinets were not installed in the top part of the kitchen, storage being limited only to the main units.
The space of almost 10 square meters in the kitchen allowed for the integration of a dining area, which is also the beneficiary's preferred socializing spot, especially since this room also has a small balcony.
