Spacious kitchens are the dream of any housewife. However, the limited spaces in our apartments often limit our options. Fortunately, there are solutions through which a small kitchen can be efficiently and stylishly furnished at the same time.
Open Gallery One of the most useful tips for creating a sense of spaciousness is to paint the walls in light colors. Opt for a white ceiling and choose light shades such as cream or beige for the walls, generally neutral ones, which will help you create a pleasant decor. Glossy surfaces reflect light, so bet on such furniture.
In addition, the neutral aspect of the walls will allow you to gradually introduce splashes of color to liven up the overall atmosphere of the kitchen: a colored vase, a vase with flowers or a set of cups in intense, cheerful shades.
Give your kitchen a modern decor with colored wallpaper or graphic elements specific to this space. You can use stickers for tiles, which you can easily peel off when you want a new change. A trend that is returning to interior design is brick. If you feel comfortable with this idea, you can create an entire wall out of brick.
You will thus obtain a modern, industrial look. Match it with a hood or a stainless steel countertop for an extra effect.
Store vertically! Install cabinets or open shelves almost to the ceiling to take advantage of as much storage space as you have available. To limit the cramped and claustrophobic effect that could be created by too many hanging cabinets, try replacing them with shelves.
Aesthetically, they will add a plus to your kitchen; choose to display your favorite sets of cups and plates, any ceramic accessory that represents you and looks good on display.
Wooden planks can also be an option for those who want a more rustic look, closer to nature. Be careful not to overcrowd the space; in this sense, use wood on as small a surface as possible. You can also try natural stone: granite for the worktop or travertine to clad the small space between the cabinet and the countertop.
Use the corners of the room. Depending on the available perimeter, integrate and efficiently use any area of the kitchen: install the sink in the corner, extend the countertop into the corner, rounding its edges or simply opt for a shelf that will take over the available accessories.
Finally, prioritize kitchen lighting. Natural light should flood this space dedicated to cooking, so make sure your curtain is a translucent one, preferably white or cream. The lighting fixture should provide enough light for the entire space, but you can also add accent spotlights under the cabinets.
