More and more houses and apartments combine the living room with the kitchen. Once the hood became an accessible product and is found in all kitchens of our time, the problem of smells penetrating into the living room is no longer, in fact, a problem. In addition, removing an entire wall leaves the impression of open space and a well-ventilated interior.

Difficulties arise when it comes to furnishing the kitchen without making a discordant note with the living room of which it is an appendage. Especially in modern or contemporary interiors, kitchens must maintain a minimalist tone, with clear lines and similar colors.

We all know that no matter how organized we are, when we start cooking complicated dishes, the kitchen becomes an entire market for appliances and tableware that we struggle to hide from the eyes of guests by stuffing them into pantries, cupboards and dishwashers. And even if we succeed, the kitchen remains a kitchen and we don't really have a way to hide the stove and sink.

Or at least that's what we thought until birouli29 architects created the following project called "The Invisible Kitchen", which was implemented in an apartment in Paris. Their goal was to create a kitchen that would disappear when not in use. The design is reduced to a minimum.

To the untrained eye, there is only a black table with a lacquered surface, a few centimeters thick, which can be at most a dining place, set in beautiful contrast with a wall clad with white-painted wood that almost perfectly imitates the finishes in the rest of the house.

Upon closer inspection, you will discover the sink, stovetop and all the devices necessary for a state-of-the-art kitchen incorporated into the black table.

And if you continue exploring, you will find that the wall is actually a giant cupboard with sliding doors in which you will find everything necessary in a classic kitchen, from a microwave oven, a conventional oven, storage spaces for all tableware, refrigerator, etc.
