Do you want an original idea for your teenage son's room? Here is a project that you can implement in a weekend: a skateboard shelf.
Open Gallery You will need a skateboard, specifically the wooden board, string, hanging brackets and optionally decorations that you can add to your liking.
If your son already has a skateboard that he no longer uses (make sure of this first), you can use its board. If it shows signs of wear, it is advisable to sand it down a bit.
Drill holes in the desired location on the board. The holes should be wide enough for the string to fit through. Then determine the location where you want to mount it and also the length of the string.
Mark the place where you will fix the brackets. Before drilling into the wall, make sure the points are level and at a suitable distance.
Now it's time to secure the string. Make a knot and thread the cord through the hole closest to the wall. Pull upwards through the hole and pass the string over the bracket on the wall twice for more stability. Pass the cord through the front hole and make another knot. Repeat the procedure on the other side of the board. Cut off any excess cord from the knots, if necessary.
Mount a few screws under the newly created shelf to secure it better. One under each side of the board and one in the center if you deem it necessary.
You can decorate with mini succulent planters or any other form of decoration. You can paint the skateboard board in any color to create a focal point by adding this new shelf which can impress not only through its shape but also through color.
Good luck!
