Any small space is a challenge for a designer. Outlining functions, efficient storage spaces, all against a stylistic background suitable for the beneficiary - these are just some of the complex details of such a project. Today we propose to follow how such a space can be approached and what solutions were found to meet the clients' wishes.
We are talking about the apartment of a young couple designed by Solo Design Studio from Russia. Aware of the reduced dimensions of the space (an area of 33 square meters), the young people decided to call on the help of a designer to succeed in obtaining a comfortable home. They wanted storage spaces, but also a sleeping area that was not just the sofa.
The designer's proposals fit very well with the needs of this couple. Each function is clearly highlighted without overloading the space with furniture. The entire storage system was integrated into niches which are found especially in the hallway area.
Chromatically, a lot of white and neutral shades were used to keep the interior bright and airy. To make everything look unified, the same type of flooring was chosen throughout the home (except for the bathroom). Thus, the entire ensemble does not seem fragmented and creates the illusion of a larger space.
Another detail worth mentioning in this design is the multifunctional living room; behind the sofa we will find a folding bed, that sleeping area they desired. The proposed variant was to their liking, especially because it doesn't take up extra space, and during the day it can be hidden. In addition, it offers them additional storage space.
The system is from Olissys and was chosen precisely for this 3-in-1 system. The rest of the furniture in the apartment was chosen from IKEA for its functionality: the TV unit, the kitchen, bar stools.
To outline the different areas in the home, the designer used different types of lighting: spotlights, LED strips or pendant lights, each providing the necessary light for the respective function.
The living area extends to the balcony, designed as a perfect relaxation spot for breakfast, coffee or staying late with friends.
