We previously told you in an article that a good solution for those who live in apartments with old furniture and want a makeover is to restore the furniture pieces they already have to avoid a massive investment in new pieces and to not lose objects of real value just because they no longer have their initial appearance.

Furniture restoration workshops can work real wonders when it comes to the wooden furniture you have in your home, and not only that, we're also talking about doors, decorations, or paneling. The most common process applied for restoration or reconditioning is wood blasting.

Using a sandblasting machine with compressed air and abrasive material (if we are talking about wood blasting, salt is most often used), a very thin surface layer of the wood piece is removed, thus removing dirt accumulated over time and a superficial layer of the wood board, restoring the piece to its original appearance and extending its life by decades.

Here are some images of furniture pieces reconditioned using this procedure. This process can either refresh your bookcase, for example, or give it a new look if you decide to alter the wood and transform it from glossy to brushed or vice versa, depending on your preferences and the final look of the arrangement.

After proper blasting, the furniture will return to the state it was in before lacquering and its color will be the natural color of the wood. From this point forward, you decide how your furniture piece will be transformed until the end.

Although blasting was initially a procedure intended for cleaning wooden surfaces and not only, nowadays it is also used to achieve finishes inside a dwelling.

Therefore, if you want a change in your home at the level of finishes, then you may consider cladding a wall and blasting the wood to obtain a completely natural look, slightly rustic with industrial accents.

You can also change the look of your kitchen by replacing the cabinet doors with beechwood ones and giving them a glossy surface, ultimately resulting in a shabby chic kitchen that will surely stand out.
