The following data points define the problem: a 30 square meter space, a young owner who desires a modern design, with a mandatory sleeping area and office. How were his requests addressed and what is the result? We will find out in the following.
An apartment with such an area can put you in difficulty regardless of what you want from the designed space. Even more so in this case where we have clear guidelines. Ilya, a young designer from Moscow, accepted this challenge and created a design project for this young man's home.
In outlining the design, Ilya focused on creating well-defined functionalities that communicate harmoniously with each other. The elements were carefully chosen and every detail has its role in the decor.
Each area is optimized to be used as efficiently as possible. Thus, right from the entrance to the dwelling, we find a wardrobe for clothes, which is, in fact, the main storage area in this space. Then, we move on to the kitchen, a space of approximately 5 square meters, with a parallel arrangement of furniture.
On one side we find the work areas specific to the kitchen and on the other side, the rest of the furniture intended for storage. The appliances (including the washing machine and dryer) are all incorporated into the furniture to achieve a visual unity in the design.
We reach the living area, the main room of the house. Here, in a space of 16 square meters, we find outlined in the same place a mini-living room, a dining area, an office and, encapsulated, the sleeping area. The style used comes with a slightly masculine feel, in dark tones and geometric details. The accent wall outlined in the living room perfectly illustrates this approach.
Paintings and decorative cushions add color to the design, describing an excellent focal point that is well-utilized.
The dining area stands out thanks to the lighting fixtures with a very interesting geometric design. The same motif of the geometric shape is repeated on the wallpapered wall next to the desk.
