The 25 square meter studio apartment in Bucharest was designed by its owner, who acted as both client and designer, with the intention of renting it out. By carefully analyzing the space and atmosphere created, the surface area of the dwelling becomes merely an abstract number, as the zoning and furnishing of the studio manage to satisfy the technical and aesthetic needs of young people.

The owner has been passionate about interior design for 10 years, during which time he decorated both his own apartments and those of his friends. He pursues design as a hobby in his free time after work and recently managed to attend a course at the Ilbach workshops in Bucharest.

The studio apartment presented here was recently renovated; work began in January 2020 and was completed in June, with a pause imposed by the home isolation period. In general, he only worked on weekends on the design and construction of this studio.

The style chosen for the decoration and small decor details is modern-contemporary, with simple lines, taking into account the reduced surface area of the dwelling and its location within a complex where there is a high demand for rentals from young people. To avoid monotony, vintage decor elements were incorporated.

The separation of the kitchen from the living area was achieved through a sliding glass door, which allows for visual continuity of the space. At its level, a change in flooring finish was also made.

Gray tones predominate, even though this choice may seem risky in terms of optical illusion regarding the space. Mahogany accents and the laminate parquet flooring warm up the atmosphere and contrast pleasantly with the wall finishes.

Considering the destination of the studio apartment, splashes of accent color were introduced: the intense yellow decorative cushions on the sofa, a multi-colored rug (purchased online), and paintings.

Gold inserts add a touch of elegance to the entire dwelling. The furniture (made to order according to the owner's sketches at a workshop in Prelungirea Ghencea) is accessorized with gold buttons purchased from Ikea.

Including appliances, the owner stayed within a budget of 3200 euros for furnishing and decorating this space.
