Because summer is often synonymous with time spent outdoors, balconies and terraces gain increased importance in our homes during this season, and not only. They become the place to relax at the end of the day or to have breakfast on weekend mornings.

Most often, these spaces do not offer many square meters in which to unfold. The limitation does not mean that we cannot furnish a balcony or a terrace so that we can enjoy beautiful moments. Taking into account the proportions and how we will use this area of our homes, we will emphasize those features that will support us in our endeavor.

A table with chairs or a bench is recommended to increase functionality. If the balcony space does not allow for two chairs, opt for a swing or just a bench. Provide extra comfort with many seat cushions and possibly a blanket for cooler evenings.

And since we mentioned textiles and pleasant textures, consider a colorful rug that will brighten up the created arrangement. Decorate around with plants; if the perimeter is too narrow, use the wall to decorate vertically with practical pots. For terraces, hanging plants enrich the exterior decor.

You will be able to choose shrubs in large pots or grow a micro garden in specially designed boxes. Depending on the size, umbrellas can be introduced into both types of spaces to provide pleasant shade on hot days. For balconies there is also the option of awnings, while for terraces, large umbrellas can be chosen, which cover a larger area.

In general, rattan furniture is most commonly used for such balcony arrangements. However, there are also cheaper options that you can find in stores. You will achieve the same effect with less money. Also, in the case of terraces, there is the possibility of creating raised platforms (which can even be made from recycled pallets).

Lighting can be ambient through a lantern or thick cylindrical candles placed on a windowsill or table.

The ideas for furnishing these outdoor spaces in our homes are extremely varied. Prioritize according to your needs and decorate them with love for moments full of relaxation and good cheer.
