Plenty of wood, exposed concrete, irregular finishes, seemingly imperfect, many rough textures in warm, earthy tones, but also glossy finishes, perfectly polished, marble, glass. All were put into balance with great care to recreate the atmosphere of "home" in this three-room apartment.
Open Gallery The architects from Pure-Mess describe this complex style adopted in the project as an "urban-contemporary one that borrows wabi-sabi accents to break away from the pattern of modern-classical arrangements". The symmetry and accuracy of modern design and the irregular forms, the naturalism of the wabi-sabi elements complement each other extremely well.
The overall impression of the designed space is one of simplicity (a harmonious, studied simplicity) of the natural, which should make the beneficiaries spend quality time at home, no matter how short.
The living area of the house is a welcoming open space, where all areas communicate efficiently and give the feeling of ample space. The oversized sofa, made of a gray textile material, is the central element of the living room; it contributes to relaxation and disconnection from the outside world.
Besides its functional side (having plenty of storage space), the hallway was treated as a transition between the two major stylistic influences addressed in the project. It features a generous mirror in which we can see the reflection of the living room.
In the two fairly spacious bedrooms, the general concept of the house continues; we find a neutral color palette, natural wood veneers, embossed wallpaper. For curtains, bed upholstery, and the makeup table stool, rough textures were used, reminiscent of burlap sackcloth and a sensory closeness to natural elements.
The bathroom design reflects the imprint of the Pure-Mess team: "natural elements are represented by Iseo ceramic tiles from Inalco and represent the raw side of the bathroom. They highlight the black Azalai marble which provides depth and highlights the detail of the modern furniture, made of milled MDF, painted in copper color with a satin finish.
