Grotta Palazzese is a hotel and restaurant located in the town of Polignano a Mare in Italy. The hotel is situated in a natural cave on the Adriatic coast, which gives it a unique view.
Photo source: www.grottapalazzese.it/ History of the design and architecture of Grotta Palazzese Grotta Palazzese was built in the 17th century as a summer residence for the noble De Ferrari family. In the 19th century, it was transformed into a hotel and restaurant.
The original design of Grotta Palazzese was done in the Baroque style. The interior of the cave was decorated with frescoes, stucco work, and other decorative elements.
In the 1970s, the hotel was renovated and expanded. The renovation project was carried out by Italian architect Aldo Rossi. Rossi preserved the original design of the cave but added modern elements, such as a terrace overlooking the sea.
