Works of art, especially paintings, come to complete the living space through the aesthetic value that personalizes the overall arrangement. Many of us have at least one painting that often goes unnoticed. There is a solution for this: highlighting it with a special lighting fixture.
The model, type of bulb used, and distance between the bulb and the edge of the painting are important considerations when choosing a fixture. You can choose fixtures with a metal rod (fixed or adjustable spotlights), fixtures with an arched arm, and fixtures with an arm inclined at various angles.
We recommend that the distance between the edge of the painting and the lighting fixture be at least 15 centimeters. If the distance between the frame of the painting and the lighting fixture is small, it is advisable to use xenon or halogen bulbs (as they do not heat up and will not discolor the surface of the painting).
If the distance exceeds 40 centimeters, you can use ordinary incandescent bulbs.
If you want to position a painting in a niche or under a shelf, use fixtures with a metal rod that have a support element perpendicular to the rod and which attaches to the shelf, not the wall. The number of spotlights is variable.
When choosing a lighting fixture to highlight a painting, it's good to consider how the painting is made and the style of the frame, as there are models with an elegant design and expensive finishes (silver-plated, gold-plated or exotic wood) that are suitable for paintings that depict classical themes: landscapes and portraits.
For paintings created using modern techniques, choose lighting fixtures with simple lines and clear shapes.
For collectors and art enthusiasts who have a room dedicated exclusively to displaying paintings, you can use fixtures specially designed for art galleries. One option would be large fixtures suspended in the center of the room with powerful spotlights aimed at each painting individually.
In fact, these types of fixtures can be called miniature reflectors.
