A historic apartment doesn't necessarily mean an outdated one. Its features can be integrated into a contemporary decor with just a minor renovation. Located in London, in a building constructed in 1860 with strong Georgian influences, the apartment has undergone transformations that have brought it back to the present as a testament to architectural mastery.

The first steps involved restoring the cornices and plasterwork to their original condition. Subsequently, the floors, which were quite worn from years of use, were reconditioned.

The simple details of this historic apartment harmoniously blend with decorative elements designed to highlight the architectural features specific to its era. Noteworthy in this regard is the fireplace and the Carrara marble used for its facade. The same marble can be found as a detail in the simply furnished kitchen, which has impact thanks to the asymmetry of the chairs around the table.

The orange lamp in the living room, along with shelves arranged on either side of the fireplace, make this part of the room the focal point, constantly accentuated by the large floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the entire space with light.

Several aspects caught our eye: the bedroom with completely black walls and decorative accessories, such as the yellow side table in the living room which we will also find in the bedroom used as a nightstand but in a different color. The blackness of the bedroom is balanced by the wooden elements within the bed frame and floor, as well as by the mirrors in the wardrobe which amplify the light.

The bathroom also has its share of drama in the decor. The grey tiles arranged in a fishbone pattern, underfloor heating, and yellow feet of the bathtub are modern by definition but do not detract from the unique charm of the overall design.
