Sometimes circumstances force you to make compromises. This is the situation our protagonist found herself in today. She is an architect and lives with her daughter in a 45 square meter apartment which she decorated herself. The work was carried out quickly so that the two could move into their new home as soon as possible.
The limited space was the challenge of this project. As it was her own home, the architect was meticulous and planned the layout to ensure the desired comfort. Every square meter was optimized so that mother and daughter could enjoy their new home.
Stylistically, the architect drew inspiration from the details of the building, opting for exposed concrete and whitewashed brick textures. The decor reminds us of loft interiors, but with fewer industrial elements and a more refined look.
The living room connects directly to the kitchen, forming a unified open space with a dining area that discreetly transitions between the two functions. To optimize the space and create as many storage areas as possible, the architect provided cabinets on two levels in the upper part of the room. The cooking space is quite small and cramped.
The living room is sparsely furnished to be as airy and bright as possible. Niches and ingeniously incorporated furniture units provide a minimum of storage. The sofa is extendable, practically serving as the mother's bedroom; the TV area is minimally represented.
The girl's room includes everything a teenager needs. The color palette and decorative details were chosen by her, in order to personalize the space to her liking. Her mother's guidance was minimal. The space provides a sleeping area with a bed, desk and a spacious wardrobe.
Lighting plays an important role in this layout. Being a small space with darker areas, it was necessary to create different scenarios so that each function could be highlighted by various lights.
From the kitchen to the dining area, living room and bathroom to the hallway, general, ambient and accent lighting blend harmoniously to ensure an intimate, pleasant and comforting atmosphere.
