If a pool is too large and expensive of a project for you but you still want to enjoy the warm days ahead and need ways to entertain your little ones, we recommend making a water mat for your garden. Here's a solution proposed by homemadetoast.com.
Open GalleryYou will need a roll of thick plastic, parchment paper (like baking paper), an iron, and a source of water. First, lay out a long piece of parchment paper and fold it in half. Draw a line 4 centimeters from the edge. This marks how much parchment paper will be ironed.
Unroll the roll of plastic, depending on how large you want to make the water mat. Fold it in half.
Unfold the parchment paper, place the edges of the plastic on it, fold it back over, and iron slowly and carefully over the parchment paper, following the line you drew earlier. The plastic will melt and stick together. Do not immediately unfold the parchment paper. Let it cool first.
Glue all sides of your future water mat. Leave a three to four centimeter area unglued so you can insert a hose to fill the mat with water. After filling it with water, seal this area with adhesive tape or iron it. It is advisable to use adhesive tape so that you can change the water inside.
To make it even more fun, add food coloring to the water.
Place the mat in your garden and let the weekend fun begin!
