The laundry or ironing area seems like a rather abstract term. After all, if the washing machine is in the bathroom, why would you need to create a separate space or even a room? We thought we'd tackle this topic and see what ideas we can extract for your own home.

Your first thought probably goes to the size of the space in your house. In a small apartment, such an area may not be feasible simply because you don't have the space or because it is not a priority for you. But let's explore this further!

Most of us have our washing machine installed either in the bathroom or in the kitchen. There's nothing wrong with that. However, there are more functional approaches that allow you to gather all your laundry needs in one place: the washing machine, dryer, detergent and fabric softener, bleach or soap, as well as other similar products you use when washing clothes.

One of these options involves integrating the washing machine into the bathroom itself but separating it from the rest of the room with a wall. If you want the machine to be hidden, you can solve this by incorporating it into a cabinet that could even be the one under the sink.

In the case of apartments with 2 bathrooms, one of them can be transformed into such an area used as a laundry room.

Besides the options mentioned above, there are spaces where you can insert the washing machine so that it doesn't take up valuable space in the kitchen or bathroom. We are referring to a pantry or a niche that can be fitted on the hallway and closed with a sliding door. Here you can gather all the products you need, including the laundry basket.

Ideally, this space should be near the bathroom to have access to a water source and a drain for dirty water.

In addition, you can store an ironing board here. As soon as you take the clothes out of the dryer, you can iron them to prevent wrinkles.

Also, the washing machine can be installed in a wardrobe, and the shelves can be used for storing the items mentioned above. Let's take the example of a dressing room fitted in the hallway. Here, near the bathroom, the washing machine can be installed, and the rest of the space can be used for storing clothes.
