Although such an apartment configuration is less common, a few decorating ideas are always welcome. With 40 square meters and a lengthwise layout, this design shows us that by using space intelligently, you can successfully decorate even a home with a more challenging configuration.

Opening the GaleriaCrucial in such a case is to create the impression of width. As in our case and for any other similar designs, there are a few basic ideas that can be implemented. For both the ceiling and walls, it is recommended to use the lightest colors possible, preferably white or cream.

As much as possible, the floor color should also be in the lightest shade. Here's another effective trick: the parquet boards are mounted across the width of the room and not along its length.

Use mirrors! This will create an illusion of spaciousness but also a sense of width (see in the gallery how they have been integrated into the decor).

Storage is again a delicate subject. The key is to fit wardrobes into the wall, so you save as much space as possible. It is preferable to choose the same shade as the wall for the wardrobes, so you have a uniform color that will reflect light and amplify the space.

Try to eliminate partitions or dividing walls as much as possible (make sure they are not part of the building's load-bearing structure!). The continuity of the space, its fluidity is important for a lengthwise design. The delimitations between functionalities can be made through small tricks such as a rug, a different flooring, or another shade on the wall in that area.

If this is impossible to achieve, then choose the furniture pieces in the room carefully. Long and narrow furniture that adapts to the shape of the room or folding pieces are some options you can use. Give up massive furniture and opt for shelves, open shelves that do not overload the decor.

By creating small centers of interest, you will remove the impression of length from the room. In our design, we have a living area with a bed for sleeping, delimited by a rug and two armchairs, then a mini-passage area with a fireplace and armchair, and then again a space dedicated to a desk, separated in turn by another type of rug.

A narrow hallway connects the previously mentioned spaces and the kitchen. This is how, by developing successive zones with functions discreetly delimited, you can eliminate the unpleasant effect of a long and narrow apartment.

Keeping these ideas in mind, you can proceed similarly for rooms with a similar layout. Keep everything as simple as possible, focusing on functionality.
