For the design of this apartment in Croatia, the team of architects from GRUST arhitektura focused on creating a marine-inspired decor, drawing inspiration from the natural landscape – its proximity to the sea. The aim was for a relaxing and welcoming ambiance, perfect for unwinding after a day spent outdoors, on the beach.
Open Gallery This is reflected in the theme illustrated in the interior design: pleasant colors reminiscent of the hues of the sky or the sea, fine sand tones, and the inviting warmth of the afternoon sun.
The architects reconfigured the functions on the ground floor, changing the finishes and adopting a new design through the use of various types of lighting. The emphasis was placed on the space encompassing the kitchen and dining area, as this is, in fact, the heart of the home and the owners' favorite spot. Facing southwest, the room is bathed in pleasant afternoon sunlight.
Therefore, to amplify the sense of spaciousness and highlight the room, the architects opted for white for the walls and furniture. Pastel blue accents were used in less well-lit areas to harmoniously complement the decor, while accent lights are excellently integrated into the spatial composition.
Natural wood essences add to this interior inspired by the marine landscape.
The living area is relatively understated and highlighted, used only for watching television or reading, so the perimeter in which it is located is relatively narrow. Between the living room and the kitchen, there is a dedicated storage area ingeniously tucked under the stairs. Moreover, within this same perimeter, we even find a small bathroom.
Upstairs, we find the bedrooms decorated in the same minimalist style, with plenty of white for restful sleep on pleasant summer evenings.
Accessories and decorations also come from the marine sphere, completing the design theme: a lighthouse painting at the entrance to the apartment, candle holders with fish or other illustrations from the same maritime landscape range.
