Romanian design is back in force on our pages with a new layout signed by Lidia Ratoi, a young promoter of parametric architecture and Alexandru Bucur from Interiology, about whom we have written before here.
Open GalleryThe 64 square meter apartment they worked on is located in a residential complex in Bucharest and was designed for a young beneficiary who wanted a simple, functional layout with few interventions, achievable in a very short time.
They started from the existing finishes, parquet, doors, tiles and bathroom tiles and outlined a current space, in complementary tones with the shade of the parquet and tiles; gray tones predominate, textured white and natural wood with subtle accents of red and green, perceived at the level of accessories.
The generous glazed surfaces are a major plus for this apartment. The space receives a lot of natural light, so the beneficiary did not want curtains or drapes. Wanting to highlight the windows even more, the two created prominent frames around all the windows clad with natural veneer stained in warm gray tones to match the existing joinery.
Storage is an issue that is acutely felt, especially in apartments, whether new or old. And in the case of this project, the space lacked functional storage areas. The problem was solved by integrating wardrobes on an entire wall in the living area and modular units in the bedroom.
Both in the living room and in the rest of the rooms, the chosen furniture is suspended or on legs to avoid overloading the space with massiveness.
The layout is minimally treated, with a focus on functionality and the idea of as much space as possible. This approach is also found in the kitchen which was intended to be compact and as efficient as possible. Light colors were also used here, a lot of white and silver, and the countertop has the exact same texture as the tiles.
The transparent table top and translucent chairs complete the atmosphere without overloading the space.
The bedroom takes over the color palette of the living room through textured white finishes and natural wood. We also find here the idea of interpenetration between the storage space and the TV area. The bed is suspended from the floor and illuminated underneath to create a floating sensation. Thus, diffused light ensures a pleasant atmosphere in the room.
