The Balnak team emerged when two young women working in the IT industry in Vienna realized they shared a common passion: art in general and interior design in particular.
Open GalleryThey started by decorating the homes of friends and acquaintances, and later their own residences. This is the story of the home in Timisoara which they named "Raspberry Cream," furnished on a budget of 20,000 euros.
“We both renovated our apartments at the same time and realized we were constantly advising each other because we didn't have anyone else to turn to. From then on, we continued to explore, learn, and understand various real estate markets and client needs.” (Balnak team)
Looking back at the entire design and implementation process, the girls told us that the renovation of the Timisoara apartment took longer and cost more than the one in Vienna.
“When we started renovating this apartment in the spring of 2020, we didn't even think it would take us more than a year to finish.”
The whole process seemed quite long and intense to them, but they savored every challenge, always learning a useful lesson, from the work teams to managing all the orders.
“We took it over in not exactly good condition, as it hadn't been renovated for many years and the initial layout of the apartment was totally unfavorable for its small space. A small pantry for food placed in an already cramped kitchen, a closed balcony in the living room that stole too much space from it, and three doors on one square meter.”
After the finishing stage, they reached their favorite part of the projects: furnishing and choosing decorations. They encountered challenges here as well, related to the variety of furniture pieces and their prices in relation to the actual quality. Many of their orders were placed abroad (La Redoute, Moemax, made.com).
To maximize the available space, they reconfigured the layout with minor modifications. In the living room, they demolished the pillar that connected the living room to the balcony and thus obtained a more spacious and brighter space.
