For the redesign of this 10 square meter kitchen, an optimization of storage spaces was desired, as well as the creation of a comfortable area for socializing and welcoming friends for coffee. Regarding the decor, inspiration came from the colors of vacations spent in Spain.
In carrying out this project the designer focused on creating functional zones with built-in appliances to maintain a unified and organized concept. He chose a natural wood veneer to keep a neutral base and then added color accents from decorative tiles. To mark the dining area, he created an accent wall with blue.
In addition to the technical space that includes work areas specific to a kitchen, the designer provided symmetrically arranged cabinets on either side of the door. Integrated cabinets add extra storage space. Thus, there is a place to put folding chairs, as well as a cabinet in which an espresso machine (or microwave oven, depending on the case) was incorporated.
The cabinet with shelves is an excellent place for specific decorations or books.
The dining area was designed for multifunctional purposes. By adding a bench accessorized with many soft cushions for seating and comfortable chairs, a much-desired socializing space was created for the family. The table was custom-made and has a slightly unusual trapezoidal shape, while also serving as a desk through the storage space created under the countertop.
Considering the northern orientation of the room, the designer chose a more colorful, lively, and dynamic approach. The pretext of Iberian vacations served the final purpose perfectly – a brighter, more welcoming kitchen for everyone in the house and beyond. Patchwork-type decorative tiles start from the perimeter of the worktop and continue on the window wall, including the one with the bench.
For the flooring, he chose a classic checkerboard pattern.
Also to enhance the brightness of this space, LED strips were mounted in the upper part of the room, just above the cabinets, producing a diffused but pleasant light, especially in the evening.
