We love writing about the projects of Romanian designers and architects. Today we meet again with Cristina Micu(about whom we have written before here) and her recently completed design of a 63 square meter apartment in Bucharest.
The two-room apartment is located in a residential complex and was purchased finished. Cristina's mission was limited to furniture solutions, decoration, color selection, and accessories.
The design concept aimed to create the most efficient and functional space possible, in a modern style with Scandinavian and retro influences. The project started from small decorative pieces that the beneficiary already owned, aiming to express as much of her passions and preferences as possible.
The living area was designed as a relaxation space and a gathering place for friends, furnished with a comfortable extendable sofa and a TV area. A bookcase was included, as well as a desk for work-from-home days, resulting in an entire wall dedicated to book storage.
The yellow armchair stands out both through its design and color, accentuated by the copper finish lamp, thus creating a wonderful corner for reading. The general lighting of the room is provided by the luminaire with a unique design featuring Edison bulbs, while the luminous letter placed above the sofa emphasizes the retro influences in the decor.
The same design line is found in the bedroom. Half of the wall on which the bed is placed was painted yellow, creating a feeling of elongation of the room. The paintings placed above the bed complement the horizontal yellow, describing the focal point of the room.
The two wall lamps perfectly frame the entire ensemble, and their copper finish again refers to the retro style.
Although the bedroom is small in size, it was possible to integrate a wardrobe for storage, and the furniture solution is balanced both compositionally and chromatically. White is predominant, accentuated by gray, yellow, and wood texture in places.
The space around the window has been excellently used, the furniture placed here masking the radiator and offering extra storage.
The hallway incorporates a discreet wardrobe, but it stands out through small pieces of furniture and decorations. The bench with exotic motifs provides a splash of color to the area, while the dresser with drawers stands out due to its patina wood finish. The resulting design describes a cheerful home, where every object and detail contributes to transforming the space into a true home.
