Adam Kalkin oversaw the Old Lady House project, and it can be said to be his best work by far. Old Lady House is a dwelling constructed entirely from recycled shipping containers.

The design and concept make these containers the ideal living space: the rooms are bright and spacious, and the combination of glass and metal offers a very pleasing contrast.

Despite its name, this dwelling is as modern as can be. All the finishes inside – a concrete floor, large glass windows, sliding doors, many stainless steel elements, very strong beams and pillars – give it an industrial look that doesn't recall the old containers from which it is made at all.

However, to best integrate the home into its natural surroundings, the architect used natural materials wherever possible, such as fir floors and mahogany sliding doors. The dwelling also features a bathroom, bedrooms, a very spacious kitchen, a dining area, storage space, and a laundry room.

The living room is extremely spacious and features two comfortable sofas next to a rustic fireplace, inviting relaxation and daydreaming.

Thanks to the rigips, the ondulations of the container are perfectly covered, making the arrangement look very natural, as if it were not a matter of containers that were previously used for transport.
