This 70 square meter apartment in Moscow was designed with a focus on communal and relaxation areas.
The clients, a married couple, desired a comfortable space for relaxation in their new apartment. The designers at Notum Project had an additional mission: to visually enlarge the existing space using smooth transitions from one area to another.
The three-room apartment's layout is somewhat atypical, located at the intersection of two angled volumes. Through careful design, sufficient space was allocated for each zone and activity. Furniture and décor harmoniously softened the sharp angles.
The architects confess that the design was conceived for a modern couple who prefer to relax at home without cooking extensively; therefore, the kitchen is designed as a minimal space, not the focal point of the house (although its elegant materials attract all eyes).
In terms of layout, the apartment is divided into a spacious open-plan living area (including the entrance hall, kitchen furniture line, dining area, and living room), an office accessible from the hallway, a bathroom, and a laundry room; the sleeping area comprises the master bedroom and dressing room.
Throughout the design, elegant contrasts are found between matte and glossy materials, cool and warm tones, accentuating the strong personality of the proposed ambiance. The color palette is based on neutral beige hues and warm gray tones. Unique interior elements and decorations by renowned designers played a key role in furnishing this home.
The use of washable paint in complex shades of gray and dusty white pleasantly contrasts with the dark, solid wood flooring. Gold accents used in the décor complement the neutral background and highlight various areas of interest.
Storage space is sufficient for two people; designers opted for concealed storage and integrated systems. For example, the dressing room in the bedroom doesn't stand out as a separate wardrobe, its glossy doors are painted in the same tone as the washable paint on the walls.
The dedicated laundry room, located next to the bathroom, features a spacious cupboard for storing clothes.
